7 Steps For Healthy, Younger Looking Skin

Your skin is one of the first things people notice when they meet you. Skin covers every part of your body and is a miracle organ that most of us take for granted. Human skin is incredible. It has the ability to regenerate new cells and absorb moisture and nutrients.

As we age, our skin begins to have trouble regenerate new cells and retaining moisture. This leads to wrinkles, dryness, and visibly aging skin. Not to mention, every day our skin is exposed to UV rays from the sun, pollution and other environmental factors.

Our skin really does take a beating. That’s why it’s’ important to develop and maintain a skin care routine designed to give you healthy, younger looking skin.
Not sure where to begin? Below are 7 steps for healthy, younger-looking skin.

Keeping your body hydrated is one of the best things you can do for your skin and overall health. Drink at least 8 full glasses of water a day to stay hydrated. Water is critical to every single bodily function while flushing impurities out of your system. This will help with getting you skin that glows.

Overexposure to harsh ultra-violet (UV) rays from the sun and tanning beds is one of the leading causes of skin damage. Too much sunshine and UV exposure speeds up the skin aging process and increases your risk for skin cancer. Always wear sunscreen when going outside, even if it’s cloudy or raining.

Clean skin is healthy skin. But there is a right and a wrong, way to do it. Be gentle when washing your face and avoid products with harsh detergents and ingredients. Exfoliate at least once a week, but don’t overdo it. You don’t want to damage your skin.

Clean eating helps promote healthy skin from the inside out. Eat a well-balanced diet with lots of iron-rich foods. You should also eat your fruits and vegetables of course. They are filled with vitamins such as Vitamin A and Vitamin E, which are good for the skin.

As we get older, our skin loses elasticity and firmness. This combined with weight loss and/or gain can cause wrinkles and sagging skin. Gaining too much weight causes our skin to stretch. And when we lose those extra pounds, we’re left with sagging skin that may never get firm again. To avoid this, try your best to maintain a healthy weight. Your skin will thank you.

Prevention is always easier than the cure. Before you get those dreaded wrinkles and crow’s feet, why not take steps to prevent them in the first place. Start acting early by creating a healthy skin care routine. Use serums and night creams to combat aging around the eyes, an area very sensitive to wrinkles.
